  1. Resolve unclear warning: Multiple XLIFF files contains references to target culture

    Starting with Version 4.0.6913.0 we are getting warnings for all projects that read as follows:

    XLIFF files 'MultilingualResources\myproject.de.xlf' and 'myproject.csproj' contain references to the target culture 'de'. Targets cultures are limited to a single XLIFF file per project.

    It's unclear what the actual problem, because I can't seem to find any reference to a target culture in the mentioned csproj file.

  2. Please change from API v2 to API v3

    MAT should be able to use v3 for getting better quality via NMT for the resulting translations.

  4. BUG Multilingual Toolkit compile error for chinese resources in Xamarin Android

    We are using a Xamarin Android project in VS2017 in Windows. We enable the multilingual app toolkit. Now after adding the language Chinese Simplified (zh-Hans) we now have a new resource directory resources/values-zh-rHans. However this is not allowed by Android and we now get compile errors:
    Error invalid resource directory name: .....\res values-zh-rhans "res values-zh-rhans".

    A resource directory values-zh-rHans is not allowed in Android. It should be values-zh-rCN. Please fix.

  5. Allow to change the UI language of the editor

    The translation for french for instance is awful, and since I guess support for translations will be behind the new features anyway, I'd rather have the UI in english.

  7. Please add a menu to let us choose the language of Multilingual Editor

    I've installed the English version of the application on my computer on which the language is french.
    The editor appears is french (and is unusable because your translation is really bad), I would like to have a menu switch the application to English.

  8. Improve shared projects support

    I have this setup:

    - MyProject (UWP)
    - MyCompany.Mobile (Shared project)
    - MyCompany.Mobile.Windows (Shared project)

    Each project contains a Strings\[Culture] directory that adds the resources for that specific project, but unfortunately MAT only seems to pick up the Strings directory in the UWP app project (not the shared project ones).

    This make working with shared projects very hard, please add solid support for shared projects.

    Happy to provide more info if needed.

  9. Please update MAT to eliminate error messages due to Microsoft DataMarket being retired

    Since 2017/04/30, "Generate machine translations" displays an error message:

    TranslateApiException: Invalid authentication token. Microsoft DataMarket is retired. Please subscribe to Microsoft Translator, in the Cognitive Services section at https://portal.azure.com. Please visit https://cognitive.uservoice.com/knowledgebase/articles/1128340-announcements-action-required-before-april-30-20 to find detailed instructions. : ID=0824.V2_Soap.GetTranslations.4EEAF6E3

    Please provide a way to at least eliminate the message, or even better, to restore the capability as hinted in the message.

  10. Enable filtering for multiple columns

    When filtering according to column it would be very helpful to be able to filter for multiple columns.

    Example: Filter both by translation state and alphabetically

  11. Be compatible with latest VS 2017 RC version

    MAT is listed in VS 2017RC "Extensions and update menu"; after installation, it doesn't show as Tool option menu to enable my project.
    It doesn't appear to be installed in the extensions folder in my hdd.
    This tool is so used in my everyday projects, I beg you to make it available for any evolution of VS from now on.

  12. Tell us how to install for Visual Studio 2017

    Installing VS2017 doesn't automatically have MAT support. Please post instructions for those of us that were using it with VS2015 and have installed VS2017.

  13. The toolkit should not override Resw files that exist for other languages

    Without File History switched on, I would have lost my already existing resource file with human translations while trying out the Multilingual App Toolkit. It is bad enough that the toolkit does not consider such existing translations, but overriding such files without confirmation seems unacceptable to me.

    On a general note: For translating a Resw file into another language I would personally not even consider using a special tool. I was actually rather expecting the toolkit would pick up hard-coded strings in code to help with localisation of existing projects. Such functionality does not seem to be implemented.

    The latest version of MAT has been updated to preserve the previous translations. This happens automatically when an existing language is selected via the Add Translation Languages menu. The translation are moved into the XLIFF file and the target language resource files.

  14. Add ignore/exclude filter for resx files

    Enabling MLAT for a project sucks in all resx files found and creates localized resx files for all enabled languages, which can really bloat your project. Please add the possibility to exclude specific resx files from ever being added to XLIFF files and so that the localized resx files are not created.

    Two scenarios:

    1)
    ASP.NET MVC with enity framework code first migrations. Enabling MLAT for such a project really bloats the project with localized, unneeded, RESX files being created for every migrations, which can be hundreds. The XLF file also gets bloated with migrations data, that must manually be…

  16. Can you update the World-Ready Documentation?

    I saw this here, https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa292479(v=vs.71).aspx and I hear it this term "World-Ready" in the Edx Series. What's wrong with "Global" "Multi-National or "Internationalized?"

  18. Translation status report should complain more loudly if any language has 1 or more missing translations

    Right now if I have 200 strings, and somehow I forgot to update a language, the translation status report shows a tiny little sliver of red... barely noticable. Instead, there should be a giant blinky light, especially if I'm about to ship my app with a missing resource.

  19. Fix ErrorMessage preventing MAT to save translation-files when opening XLIF from VS

    Message is The selected file type is not supported by the Editor. This type of CollectionView does not support changes to its SourceCollection from the Dispatcher thread.

    Opening MAT as standalone and loading the same XLIF resolves the issue, but isn´t very "handy"

  20. Fix crash when opening XLIFF file without <group> element

    From the XLIFF 1.2 spec, the <group> element as a child of <body> is optional.
    http://docs.oasis-open.org/xliff/v1.2/os/xliff-core.html#body

    If you try to open an xliff file which does not contain a group element, the MultiLingual Editor does not open the file, and reports an exception: "Object reference not set to an instance".

    So, this xml does NOT work :-(
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8" ?>
    <xliff xmlns="urn:oasis:names:tc:xliff:document:1.2" xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance&quot; version="1.2" xsi:schemaLocation="urn:oasis:names:tc:xliff:document:1.2 xliff-core-1.2-transitional.xsd">

    <file datatype="xml" source-language="en-GB" target-language="cy" tool-id="My tool" original="file.xml">

    <header>

    <tool tool-id="My tool" tool-name="My tool" tool-version="1.0"/>

    </header>

    <body>
    <trans-unit id="My_resource_string" translate="yes" xml:space="preserve" approved="no">
    <source>Source string</source>
    <target state="new" xml:lang="si">Target string</target>
    </trans-unit>
    </body>
    </file>
    </xliff>
